ABOUT ME

My Background

Tammy Groves Thornton (owner and founder of TGTArt) is an artist, designer, photographer, author, and illustrator from Memphis, TN.  She grew up in North and Midtown Memphis. She graduated from the University of Memphis with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. She set out to change the world with her love and compassion and desire to help make the world a better place.

As a child she loved to paint and create. She loved the use of bright, vibrant colors as they electrified visually and drew you into the stories being told on canvas. Earlier in life, she was drawn to watercolor because of its fluidity and luminosity. Later, a love for bold, rich colors was awakened through the use of acrylics on canvas.

Tammy thinks of her art as a catalyst of change; inspiring and uplifting the spirit and encouraging the heart to love. Her work is comprised of bright colors creating feelings of joy and expressing her love of love. Her work reflects diversity and the embracing of our diversities: race and ethnicity, culture, and social. She hopes to inspire young people, especially girls, to see themselves as capable of doing and being anything they choose to be. Her purpose is to share her light (God-given artistry and creativity) with the world. She hopes to change the world one work at a time, one heart at a time, one moment at a time, making it a better place than she found it.
